GENSILDO-D is a dual-action medication designed to manage the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition in which the prostate becomes enlarged, leading to urinary problems such as frequent urination, difficulty starting urination, weak urine stream, and a sensation of incomplete bladder emptying.
This combination capsule contains two active ingredients:
Silodosin (8mg): Silodosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic blocker that works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the prostate and the bladder neck. This muscle relaxation improves urine flow and reduces the symptoms of BPH, such as urgency, frequency, and difficulty with urination.
Dutasteride (0.5mg): Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that works by blocking the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a hormone that contributes to prostate enlargement. By inhibiting this conversion, Dutasteride helps reduce the size of the prostate over time, leading to long-term relief from BPH symptoms.
