Description

LOXIM-CV is a combination antibiotic that contains Cefuroxime Axetil (500mg), a second-generation cephalosporin, and Clavulanic Acid (125mg), a beta-lactamase inhibitor. This combination allows LOXIM-CV to overcome bacterial resistance mechanisms that would normally render Cefuroxime less effective.

Cefuroxime Axetil (500mg): Cefuroxime is an oral cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which results in the destruction of the bacteria. It is effective against a wide spectrum of bacteria, including gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Cefuroxime is commonly used to treat infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, and urinary tract infections.

Clavulanic Acid (125mg): Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects Cefuroxime from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria. This combination ensures that Cefuroxime remains active against a broader range of bacterial strains, including those resistant to other beta-lactam antibiotics.

LOXIM-CV is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sinus infections caused by susceptible bacteria. The combination of Cefuroxime and Clavulanic Acid makes this formulation highly effective for infections that are resistant to other treatments.
