Description
VANAIR XP is an advanced antibiotic formulation that combines Cefpodoxime Proxetil (200mg), a third-generation cephalosporin, with Clavulanic Acid (125mg), a beta-lactamase inhibitor. This combination enhances the efficacy of Cefpodoxime against bacteria that produce beta-lactamase enzymes, which would typically render cephalosporins ineffective.
Cefpodoxime Proxetil (200mg): Cefpodoxime is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that works by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis, causing the bacteria to break down and die. It is effective against a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, commonly used for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and ear infections.
Clavulanic Acid (125mg): Clavulanic acid works by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria. These enzymes can break down and deactivate many antibiotics, but Clavulanic Acid prevents this action, ensuring that Cefpodoxime remains effective even against resistant strains of bacteria.
VANAIR XP is particularly useful for treating infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, which include sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and skin infections. The combination of Cefpodoxime and Clavulanic Acid offers a broader spectrum of activity, making it effective for more complex or resistant infections.
